MECHALIDES KEEPS ON WINNING
July 5, 2008 - Saturday night at the All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH "Lightning" Louie Mechalides scored his fourth feature win of the season in just seven starts aboard "The Other 40". The win did not come easy for Mechalides. After starting 12th for the 40 lap main event, Mechalides had to restart at the rear of the field after bring ing out the races second caution on lap ten. Slowly and methodicially picking his way back to the front Mechalides found himself to the outside of Luke Royea for a lap 33 restart. After a drag race down into the first turn it was Mechalides taking over the top spot and racing on to his 4th win of the 2008 season.
The win on Saturday helped Mechalides to build his points lead at the All-Star Speedway and solidified his spot atop the Granite State points standings for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series.
"We had a good car tonite and I just got into turn 3 a little too heavy on lap ten and tuirned myself around", said the winner Mechalides. "I knew there was plenty of time left, thats the good thing about these 40 lap races here at All-Star, and when the checkered flew there we were. We were really limited on help tonite, I have to thank little Timmy for all his hard work. That eight year old kid does more work than I see some of the other Modified teams whole crew doing. We got this car working great and the hard work I put in shows."
Mechalides will be back in action at All-Star Speedway on Saturday July 12. Mechalides is also looking into the possibilty of running some Late Model shows at the Lee Usa Speedway on Fridays to help get more races in towards the NASCAR Whelen National Championship points. If anyone is interested please get in touch with us.
